Official Launch of Development Work on Sri Lanka–Japan Friendship Road
The development work on the Sri Lanka–Japan Friendship Road in Battaramulla was officially launched on Thursday, August 28, under the leadership of Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways, Prasanna Gunasena.
This project is undertaken under the guidance of the Ministry of Transport and Highways and supervised by the Colombo Chief Engineering Office of the Road Development Authority (RDA). The road, spanning 2 kilometres, is set to be developed with a new carpeted surface, enhancing connectivity and road safety in the area.
Funded entirely by the Government of Sri Lanka, the development work is estimated at a cost of Rs. 203 million. The Ministry of Transport and Highways has announced that the renovation is expected to be completed within the next six months, with all work scheduled for finalization before February 9, 2026.
