RDA Launches Safety Fence Project for Hazardous Mountain Roads
The Road Development Authority (RDA) has initiated a new project to enhance road safety by installing safety fences along dangerous embankment points in three mountainous provinces, following a recent increase in road accidents.
The project’s first phase will focus on high-risk zones within the Uva, Sabaragamuwa, and Central Provinces.
According to K. Chandrakumara, Deputy Director General of the RDA’s Road Safety and Traffic Management Division, the plan involves constructing approximately 50 kilometers of iron fences in the identified treacherous mountain areas across the three districts.
