Special Project Launched to Reduce Landslides on Bibile – Passara Road

The National Building Research Organization (NBRO), in partnership with the Road Development Authority (RDA), has launched a specialized project to mitigate the risk of landslides along the Bibile – Passara road.

 

Laksiri Indrathilaka, Senior Geologist at NBRO, confirmed that the project has commenced and is targeted for completion within the next year.

 

Key details of the initiative:

  • High-Risk Area: The Badulla district is prone to frequent landslides.
  • Assessment: A team of NBRO experts is currently conducting a thorough assessment to identify and stabilize landslide-prone zones.
  • Monitoring: Several landslides have been reported along the Koslanda road, and these locations are currently being monitored using equipment installed through previous NBRO projects.
  • Proactive Measures: The initiative emphasizes taking proactive steps to ensure the future stability of locations in the area.
