Rs. 6,500 Million Allocated for ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ Programme
The government has allocated Rs. 6,500 million in the 2026 Budget to ensure the continuation of the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ programme.
According to the budget proposal, this initiative is designed to be a comprehensive national movement that extends beyond environmental cleanliness to address broader ethical and social issues. The government’s goal is to build a “clean country” in every sense, which includes being free from Drugs, the underworld, Bribery and corruption and Political misconduct.
The programme also encompasses efforts to strengthen law and order and improve the efficiency of the public service. The proposal emphasized that this project is a continuous national movement, not one to be completed in the short term.
