Sri Lanka’s Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, Bimal Rathnayake, has confirmed that ongoing construction projects across the country are progressing without interruption despite global uncertainties arising from the Middle East conflict. The government has assured continuity in key infrastructure developments, maintaining planned schedules and execution.
A major focus remains on the third phase of the Central Expressway, covering the stretch from Pothuhera to Rambukkana and extending to Galagedara. Construction activities are currently progressing steadily, with approximately 75% of the Pothuhera–Rambukkana section completed as of March.
The Minister emphasized that all major development projects remain on track, with continued efforts to ensure timely completion. This reflects the government’s commitment to sustaining infrastructure growth and project delivery despite external global challenges.
