We measure everything carefully and report upward with confidence. Yet sometimes the real tension inside a project does not come from a delayed drawing or a disputed variation. It comes from something much smaller.

මින් වසර කිහිපයකට පෙර ඉදි කිරීමට සැලසුම් කළ කොළඹ සැහැල්ලු දුම්රිය යනු දුම්රියක් නොවේ.’ ඔබට මෙවැන්නක් අසන්නට ලැබුණොත් මවිතයට පත් නොවේවිද? ඇත්තෙන්ම ‘දුම්රිය’ යන වචනය අප පොදුවේ ‘ට්රේන්’ හෝ ‘රේල්’ ලෙස හඳුන්වන ප්රවාහන මාධ්යයට සුදුසු නොවේ. අනෙක් අතට රේල් හා ට්රේන් යනු දෙවර්ගයකි. ගැල් පෙළක් වන් වාහනයක් ‘ට්රේන්’ වන අතර, එහි මාර්ග පද්ධතිය ‘රේල්’ වෙයි. කොළඹ සැහැල්ලු දුම්රිය ඒ අනුව දුම් දමමින් යන රියක් නොව, රේල් මඟක් ඔස්සේ මිනිසුන් සංචලනය කරන, විදුලි බලයෙන් ක්රියාත්මක වන මාධ්යයකි. මෙනයින් ගත් කල ‘මෙට්රෝ දුම්රිය’ හෝ ‘ට්රෑම් දුම්රිය’ යනුවෙන් හැඳින්වෙන වාහනද ‘මෙට්රෝ’ හෝ ‘ට්රෑම්’ ලෙස පමණක් හැඳින්වීම වඩාත් තාර්කිකය. එහෙත් දැන් අපට එම වචනවලින් ගැලවීමට නොහැකිය.
In today’s complex and fast-paced project environments, the success of a project manager depends heavily on strong technical and analytical capabilities. While leadership and communication are essential, it is hard skills that provide the foundation for planning, execution and control. Hard skills enable project managers to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans, manage risks proactively and maintain control over cost, time and quality. Without these competencies, even the most motivated teams struggle to deliver successful outcomes.
මින් මාස කිහිපයකට පෙර තුර්කියේ ඉස්තාන්බුල් නුවරට ආසන්න අධිවේගි දුම්රිය මාර්ග වැඩබිමක් බලන්න ගිය අවස්ථාවක බ්රිතාන්ය ජාතික ඉංජිනේරුවකු හාත්පස කඳුවැටි සියල්ල අරක් ගත් සුළං බල පංකා පෙන්වමින් මෙසේ කිවුවේය: “හරිත බලශක්ති අංශයේ ලොකුම විප්ලවයක් කරපු එක්සත් රාජධානියේ ගොඩබිමින් එපිට සුළං බල වැඩසටහනට 2025 දෙසැම්බර් වෙන කොට අවුරුදු විසිපහක් වෙනව. ඒ එක්කම මගී ප්රවාහන දුම්රිය ගමනාගමනය පටන් අරන් අවුරුදු දෙසීයක් වෙනව.”
මේ මාසයේ මුල මා නිවාඩුවකට ශ්රී ලංකාවට ගොස් සිටියදී මගේ කිට්ටුම හිතවතකු හදිසි ස්ට්රෝක් එකකට හෙවත් ආඝාත තත්ත්වයකට පත්ව රෝහල්ගත වීම නිසා මට කිහිප වතාවක් ජාතික රෝහලේ ආඝාත ඒකකය වෙත යන්නට සිදු විය. වාසනාවකට ඔහු මේ වන විට හෙමි හෙමින් සුවය ලබමින් සිටී. එහෙත් ඒ රෝහල් ගමන් අතරතුර මට දැකගන්නට ලැබුණේ, තනිවම හෙල්ලෙන්නට හෝ සෙලවීමට නොහැකි රෝගීන් රැකබලා ගැනීම කෙතරම් අසීරු කාර්යයක්ද යන්නයි.
